Our story

“I salute the gods within you.”

Namaste is more than a greeting. It's the spirit we've cooked in on Burton Road since 2005 — the food of the Himalaya, brought to West Didsbury and served like home.

A country of amazing extremes.

Nepal is home to the highest mountains on earth, historic cities in the Kathmandu valley, and the forested plains of the Terai where tigers and the great one-horned rhino move at ease. Its thirty million people carry dozens of cultures, languages and dialects — and, with them, a way of cooking that changes valley to valley.

That's the table we set out to bring to Manchester. From Kathmandu street food — momo folded and steamed to order, chwela, chaat — to the Ghara Jastai (“just like home”) Nepalese mains, and the classic curries we finish with a Nepalese twist.

Cooked by master chefs.

Our kitchen is led by Chandra Kumar K.C, Dhurba Dangol and Dipendra Bahadur K.C — chefs recognised in the culinary arts for more than forty years between them. Every curry starts with herbs and spices chosen for that dish, breads are blistered in the charcoal oven, and the marinades are built the slow way.

The room matches the food: bronze and gilded deities lit in warm brass niches, deep green velvet, marble and copper. Come in and eat among it — or order it to your door across South Manchester.
